News: In Motion – “Finding Beautiful” by Paloma A. Capanna
Catch Paloma Capanna’s photo series, “Finding Beautiful ” this summer on the Connective Corridor bus. Paloma is a Rochester-based freelance writer and photographer as well as an attorney. This photographic show features details that make you re-think scenes of Syracuse – transposing what might be viewed differently, in juxtapositions of ordinary scenes. She calls most of her work “serendipity” – influenced by the Impressionists belief that light changes every six minutes. When doing Cathedral work, she has waited hours for just the right natural light.
Paloma brings decades of writing, photography and publishing to her work. Her bylines appear regularly in newspapers and her work is sold throughout the region, including the Rochester Museum and Science Center, festival and shows, public markets and galleries.
Her work is shot with a Canon Elan & and a Canon 60D, and her portfolio includes concert shots of K.D. Lang, Elvis Costello, and a number of other famous musicians – from jazz to classical. It is known for capturing sound, motion and energy, and characterized by purity of framing and timing.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wheaton College and her Juris Doctor from SUNY Buffalo School of Law. She is a member of the Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester.
