Connective Corridor

Facade Improvement Grant Program

Connective Corridor Façade Improvement Grant Program:

Two earlier rounds of the Connective Corridor Façade Improvement Grant Program have allocated $875,000 to improve approximately 56 properties. See some photo highlights of the projects here.

The third round of the program opens May 1 2014, with $200,000 to be awarded until funds are allocated.  Empire State Development provided funding for all three rounds of the program.

The maximum award per applicant in this round is $25,000.  Award decisions will be made by a Facade Review Committee comprised of academic, business, community and government partners.  Funding will be announced on a rolling basis, based on availability.  Applications are due by May 29 for consideration in June 2014 by the Facade Review Committee.  Pending awards, another application period may open if all funds have not been allocated.

Eligible properties must be located within and adjacent to the Connective Corridor (as outlined in the application).  Competitive proposals will catalyze redevelopment of core urban properties by businesses and nonprofit organizations in ways that open them to higher usage while respecting, preserving and highlighting the unique or historical character of individual properties.  Property owners will be required to invest 10% equity for each funded project and comply with participation opportunities for New York State Certified MWBEs as defined by NYS Executive Law Article 15-A.  A MWBE Utilization Plan is required at the time of application.  A MWBE contractor compliance and payment report will be required by NYS for reimbursement.
