Please join the Environmental Finance Center(EFC) as we host the first-ever “Jane’s Walk Syracuse” on Saturday, May 1st at 10:30am!
Named after legendary urban thinker, writer, and activist Jane Jacobs, Jane’s Walk is essentially a walking tour that takes place in over 60 cities across the US, Canada, and around the world to promote walkable communities. Jane’s Walk Syracuse was organized to show Syracuse residents and workers that our city has a vibrant and beautiful downtown core, and that walking to and around it allows you to experience hidden gems that you just don’t see at 35 miles per hour.
Join the EFC as they walk from the Center of Excellence to Clinton Square, Hanover Square, Armory Square, Columbus Circle, and back. Learn about local stores and restaurants that make Syracuse unique. See parks and art spaces you didn’t know existed. Hear about historic Syracuse locations and share your own stories. Along the way, make note of improvements that could be made to make walking around the city even easier and more enjoyable. Most importantly, join us and find out that walking in Syracuse isn’t just better for the environment and your health – it’s also a lot more fun.
The walk will start and end at the Center of Excellence headquarters, and will last around an hour and a half. Check in the coming days for more details. For more information, email Evan Newell.
***ALSO*** The EFC is currently designing the exact walking route, and welcome suggestions for places to stop or visit! These could be shops, restaurants, parks, historic sites, cultural centers, etc. If you are interested in getting more involved in the planning process or have a suggestion email Evan Newell by Friday, April 23rd.
