Welcome Point of Contact Gallery to its new location on the Connective Corridor. After 7 years in its location on E. Genesee Street, Point of Contact Gallery (a member of the Coalition of Museum and Art Centers at Syracuse University) has moved to SU’s Warehouse, near downtown’s Armory Square at the corner of W. Fayette and West Streets. With a much larger footprint, this state-of-the-art facility will give Point of Contact many opportunities to present a greater diversity of contemporary artists to the Central NY cultural community. Point of Contact has also announced the hire of Miranda Traudt as the new managing director.

A native of Red Hook, NY, Traudt completed her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute with a major in Art History. She followed her undergraduate studies with two Masters from SU, one in Art History, the second in Museum Studies. After completion of both Masters Traudt joined the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center in Auburn, NY, first as the art center’s administrative coordinator, and then as program director. In addition, Traudt serves as an adjunct instructor at Onondaga Community College in the Department of Art and Photography.

Miranda Traudt now returns to Syracuse and brings all of that knowledge and practice to Point of Contact, which is preparing for the November 15th opening to the public. With a downtown location and a contemporary facility, the space offers many new opportunities for Point of Contact. Traudt recognizes that Point of Contact, and SU, are participating in the resurgence of the city of Syracuse and its downtown cultural community. “With this move to the Syracuse downtown area, Point of Contact expands not only its gallery space but also its visibility and connection with the greater Syracuse community,” said Miranda Traudt, Managing Director of Point of Contact. “We are very proud of what Point of Contact has accomplished for Syracuse University and for our region, and deeply thankful for the continued support of our artists, our patrons and our audiences, who have made this possible. This is an exciting moment, a new beginning.”

Point of Contact will celebrate the opening of its new location at the Warehouse Building (350 W Fayette St) with a tango-themed event “Tango-Opera” on November 15. The event will feature Tango, a signature piece in the Point of Contact Art Collection, and a live performance by soprano Catalina Cuervo, the protagonist of Syracuse Opera’s upcoming production: María de Buenos Aires.
