Fashion After Five:The Clothes and Culture of the Cocktail Hour
Opening November 15 with Special Reception 5-9 PM November 13
The Connective Corridor is pleased to promote Onondaga Historical Association’s (OHA) new exhibit Fashion After Five: The Clothes and Culture of the Cocktail Hour, which will run from November 15, 2013 to June 15, 2014 in the OHA museum at 321 Montgomery Street, Syracuse, NY. Jeffrey Mayer from the Department of Design at Syracuse University is curator of the costume exhibition, which highlights cocktail dresses from the 1920’s to the 1990’s, all from the Sue Ann Genet and OHA Costume Collections. Dennis Connors, OHA Curator of History, created the section of the exhibit covering Prohibition, speakeasies, and cocktail lounges in Onondaga County. Made possible by the Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts, Hueber-Breuer, and Pascale’s Liquor Square, the exhibit is free and open to the public.
The Fashion After Five opening reception, featuring the debut of the OHA Speakeasy, is Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 5-9 PM.
The Syracuse University Fall Fashion Show will commence at 6:30 PM. Guests will vote for their favorite student designs. The top eight winners will become part of the exhibition. Costume dress for guests is optional. Entrance is $10 for OHA members, $15 for the general public. Reservations are suggested by calling (315) 428-1864, ext. 312. Onondaga Historical Association is located at 321 Montgomery St., Syracuse, NY, 13202. Museum and gift gallery hours are Wednesday to Friday, 10-4, Saturday and Sunday, 11-4. The Onondaga Historical Museum is free, but there is a suggested donation of $3 per adult. Research center hours are Wednesday to Friday, 10-2, Saturday 11-3:30.
