Five Syracuse University faculty and staff members will receive the Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence this month, and among them will be faculty member Don Carr who was one of the first to include the Connective Corridor Initiative in his curriculum.

Among The 2011-12 Chancellor’s Citation for Excellence honorees are:
• Don Carr, professor of industrial and interactive design (IID) in the College of Visual and Performing Arts;
• Steve Davis, professor of newspaper and online journalism in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications;
• Linda Littlejohn, Syracuse University associate vice president, Southside Initiative;
• Karin Ruhlandt, professor and chair of the chemistry department in The College of Arts and Sciences; and
• Scott T. Webster, the Steven Becker Professor of Supply Chain Management at the Whitman School of Management.

Carr integrated the Connective Corridor into interdisciplinary class projects, working on conceptual designs for bus shelters, lighted walkways and signage for the Connective Corridor. He is recognized for both teaching and collaboration with students and faculty, as well as professional work within the industrial design industry.

The Chancellor’s Citation awards were first presented in 1979 in recognition of outstanding achievement in teaching, scholarship and creative work. Over time, the focus of the awards has changed to reflect new priorities and institutional directions. Each year, members of the University community are invited to nominate a colleague or co-worker for recognition. A selection committee composed of faculty and staff from across campus reviews the nominations, and award winners are honored each spring.
