There is a great opportunity for you on the Connective Corridor!
If you’ve been on a Corridor bus lately, you may have noticed that many of them are filled with beautiful photography! In December and January, we featured work done by the PAL Project, a photography and literacy initiative under Syracuse University’s Coalition of Museum and Art Centers that brings SU students into Syracuse city schools to develop projects involving photography, video, audio recording and writing.
This display is just one of many that we’ll be exhibiting as part of the Mobile Galleries project. If you’re working with a community/school art project – be it photography, writing, graphic design, basically anything that can be printed – and are interested in potentially having it exhibited on a bus, OR if you’re interested in being an Art Supporter and paying for an installation on a bus, read below to see how you can connect to the Corridor’s mission to infUSE art into the community.
Art Projects:
Would you like to have your group’s artistic work on display in Syracuse for two months? We have three buses available, and each bus can feature 20 images from your community/school art project, including a project statement. We are accepting submissions of anything from photographs to poems to sculpture (in photo form, of course). Submissions must be high resolution and sent as a photoshop/.ai/vector file. Please note, the placard size is unusual (11″ tall x 28″ long), and images may need to be manipulated. This is a service currently being provided free by The NewHouse, a student-run advertising agency.
If you’re interested, submit your name, files and brief project information to Francesca Merwin at ceedfm@syr.edu. Please note that all submissions will be reviewed by staff at Centro for appropriate content.
Art Supporters:
This is a great chance to get involved in the community and support local art and organizations that might not otherwise be able to display their talents! For two months, you can sponsor a bus for $210 (plus tax) if the exhibit is b&w or $315 (plus tax) if the exhibit is in full color. Art Supporters receive a placard in each bus they sponsor that introduces their business as an Art Supporter and includes their logo and address. (Note: each dollar goes directly to the printing company. The Connective Corridor does not profit from this.)
If you are interested in being an Art Supporter, please contact ceedfm@syr.edu for more information.
