The Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) at 805 East Genesee St. will be presenting two exciting visual arts classes this fall: Ceramics with Professor David MacDonald and Glass with Eunjung Shin Vargas.  In addition, CFAC will continue to offer dance classes with an expanded schedule of classes.

CFAC is a vibrant cultural and artistic hub committed to the exhibition and development of artists of the African Diaspora.  The mission of the center is to exalt cultural and artistic pluralism by collecting, exhibiting, teaching and interpreting the visual & expressive arts.  Public programming includes exhibitions, film screenings, gallery talks, workshops and courses in the studio, performing & expressive arts. Ceramics With David MacDonald

Learn the fundamentals of hand-building through frequent demonstrations and individualized instruction. This class is an introduction to the many ways of working in clay. Ceramics class with Professor MacDonald is scheduled to start October 4th, 2007. This will be a six week beginner class every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost to take the class is $190.00 (includes registration fee). Participants can hold a spot with a down payment of $60.00 (non-refundable). Full payment is due by October 4th, 2007.
 

Glass With Eunjung Shin Vargas

This class is for the beginning student interested in learning the basics of fusing and slumping glass. Emphasis will be on the fundamentals of this process including cutting glass, firing schedules and design aspects. No previous glass experience necessary. The class will start October 9th, 2007 for six weeks every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost to take the class is $160.00 (includes registration fee). Participants can hold a spot with a down payment of $60.00 (non-refundable). Full payment is due by October 9th, 2007.
 

Parents Promoting Dance At CFAC

CFAC is pleased to host Parents Promoting Dance at the Center. Parents Promoting Dance and CFAC are collaborating to offer dance classes to students displaced due to the temporary sabbatical of Onondaga Dance Institute.  Openings in many classes still exist. New students are encouraged to apply now!

Classes include Ballet, Modern, Tap, Musical Theater and Hip Hop. Call 442-2230 for more information.
