Two information sessions on Phase Two/Three and Civic Strip construction along the Connective Corridor are planned for next week.
Information sessions will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 9 a.m. at the Nancy Cantor Warehouse, 350 W. Fayette St. (fourth floor), and Friday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m. at the Central New York Community Foundation/CNY Philanthropy Center, 431 W. Fayette St. (second floor ballroom). The same program will be presented at each session.
Lasting approximately one hour, each session will include presentations from the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County, Syracuse University, project engineers and partners about what is next for the Connective Corridor.
Construction is set to begin in the spring for the next phases, which include complete streetscapes, bike and pedestrian paths, public art, enhanced lighting for urban spaces, green infrastructure, façade improvements, Civic Strip signage and wayfinding, and a partnership to develop and install a network of tourism information kiosks across the Corridor.
There will be an opportunity for networking and questions at the end of each session.
The Connective Corridor is a collaboration between Syracuse University, the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County around civic entrepreneurship and urban design. It connects University Hill with downtown, as well as more than 30 arts and cultural venues, and also provides a free community bus service. The project earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s Global Leadership Award as a collaborative model for sustainability, smart growth and green streets.
