Although unique to the Central Upstate region, the Connective Corridor shares much in common with other corridor projects, most notably in Cleveland, OH, Kansas, KS, Indianapolis, IN and more. To put the Connective Corridor in context, below is some information about these other urban revitalization projects.
Euclid Avenue Corridor (Cleveland, OH)
As the nation goes through a recession, the Euclid Avenue Corridor has given a glimmer of hope to its Cleveland residents. With new construction and redevelopment along its route, small changes are not only revitalizing a neighborhood but
bringing back employment. Although the main goal of the corridor is to connect downtown Cleveland to University circle, economic development has become part of the mission.
In fact, the $197 million renovation of Euclid Avenue has become an economic development engine for the city. The core strategy of the redevelopment was to create a faster bus line from downtown to University Circle—with an increase of returning residents to Public Square moving into the restored Park Building’s condominiums, the bus service has become essential. “It has certainly exceeded all of our expectations,” Jack Boyle, the university’s vice president for business affairs, says of the Euclid corridor project.

Peachtree Corridor (Atlanta, Georgia)
Located in Atlanta, Georgia the Peachtree Corridor envisions a two part transformation of a boulevard to improve the streetscape and provide a streetcar transit system. Streetscape designs include wider streets for pedestrians, greener parks, and open engaging spaces for residents or visitors to enjoy. The pedestrian aspect, streetcar service, and increased bike lines are designed to increase mobility for visitors without need of cars.

The Green Corridor (Windsor, Ontario)
Just north of the American border in Windsor, Ontario, a Green Corridor project is connecting an international community by revitalizing a bridge. A two kilometer concrete bridge will shift “from a concrete jungle to a ‘regenerative green zone’ where landscape is emphasized.” Travelers and locals alike will be able to walk across the bridge overlooking urban scenery filled with local art. With the support of the City of Windsor, the University of Windsor, and local community support, the Corridor incorporate ideas of sustainability, art, and community.

Trinity River Corridor Project (Dallas, TX)
In Dallas, Texas the Trinity River Corridor Project is uniting the city’s wildlife, lakes, and trails thanks to the project’s focus on the environmental restoration of the surrounding Dallas community. One of the major improvements will include a highway merge of I-35 and I-45 to decrease congestion and create the Trinity Parkway. Another is the construction of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge that will reconnect north and south of Dallas to improve the resident’s quality of life.
