Rarely Done Productions has announced the lineup for its 2012-2013 season. Rarely Done is a Connective Corridor partner, located at CNY Jazz Arts Foundation, 441 E. Washington St., Syracuse, NY.
- Musical of Musicals, The Musical,” with music by Eric Rockwell and lyrics by Joanne Bogart. 8 p.m. Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27 and Nov. 2 and 3. The show is a parody of the musicals of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Stephen Sondheim, Kander & Ebb and Jerry Herman.
- “Suddenly, Last Summer,” by Tennessee Williams. 8 p.m. March 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23. Drama ricochets through a New Orleans family after the mysterious death of a son traveling in Europe.
- “Falsettos,” with music and lyrics byWilliam Finn, who also co-wrote the book with James Lapine. 8 p.m. April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20. Marvin, a confused bisexual, leaves his wife and son for a man, Whizzer. Marvin’s wife, Trina, becomes involved with the family psychiatrist, Mendel. The characters come together when Whizzer dies from AIDS. A co-production with Friends of Dorothy.
- “Debbie Does Dallas, The Musical,” adapted by Erica Schmidt and composed by Andrew Sherman. 8 p.m. June 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22. Suitable only for mature audiences. Created for the New York Fringe Festival in 2001, the story, dialogue and characters are mostly faithful to the irreverent pornographic film.
Rarely Done Productions also will present two youth programs:
- “Pieces of the Quilt,” a co-production with the Q Center at AIDS Community Resources. 8 p.m. May 9, 10, 11, 17 and 18. A series of stories connected to the AIDS Memorial Quilt. Tickets are $10, students, and $20, adults.
- The Dormouse Series will inaugurate a family series with “Pinkalicious, The Musical,” book and lyrics by Elizabeth Kann and Victoria Kann and music, lyrics and orchestrations by John Gregor. 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sept. 22, 29 and Oct. 6 and 2 and 4 p.m. Sept. 23, 30 and Oct. 7.
The musical is based on the popular children’s book of the same title by the Kanns. The youngster Pinkalicious gets carried away eating pink cupcakes and turns pink. Tickets are prices at $10, 5 years and younger; $12 for 6 to 12 years; $14 for 13 to 19 years and $20 for adults.
