News Release of Public Information Meeting
The City of Syracuse Department of Engineering will conduct a second Public Information Meeting to discuss the preliminary design strategies for the Connective Corridor Project. The meeting will be held from 5:30-7:30 P.M. on Tuesday June 22, 2010 at the City Hall Commons Atrium, 1st Floor, 201 East Washington Street, Syracuse, New York 13202. The meeting location is handicapped accessible with the entrances located on East Washington Street and in the rear of the building. Free parking is available in City Lot # 3, which is situated behind J Ryan’s pub between Erie Blvd. and James Street.
The ultimate vision of the Connective Corridor is emerging as a signature strip of cutting-edge cultural development connecting the University Hill with downtown Syracuse, showcasing cultural assets, improving streetscapes, and enhancing our parks and public spaces. The public information meeting will focus on the transportation component of the Connective Corridor, a 1.5 mile traffic calming project the City of Syracuse is leading with emphasis on bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and public transportation. The Corridor from east to west includes portions of University Avenue, East Genesee Street, and Fayette Street.
The Public Information Meeting will be informal (Open House), providing an opportunity for the public to view the changes to the preliminary design plans since the last public meeting, and to provide comments and opinions. This Public Information Meeting is part of the continuing effort by the City of Syracuse, the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects.
Representatives from the City of Syracuse, Syracuse University, the New York State Department of Transportation and the Barton & Loguidice, P.C. design team will be available at the meeting to answer questions and obtain comments on the proposed project.
Please contact Greg Fehrman, the City of Syracuse representative, at (315) 455-2000 if you have any questions or require a sign language interpreter, assistive listening system or any other accommodation to facilitate your participation in this public meeting.
All written comments on the design concepts for the Connective Corridor Project must be received or postmarked by 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 to:
