The Spatial ConTXT class in Syracuse University’s School of Architecture conducted a mobile messaging, public engagement experiment from April 11–17. Anyone passing through one of four downtown public spaces could use their cell phone to text, Tweet, or email answers to four questions posted on brightly colored vinyl signs. The questions asked “What do you like about Syracuse?”, “What do you want to be?”, “What should we do with the abandoned houses?”, and “Why smoke?”

During the evening of May 4, the Urban Video Project at the Everson Museum of Art will display a compilation of the community’s responses. Each individual who answered a question will receive an automatically generated response inviting him/her to view the massive video display.
