Watch for finishing touches this month on the Plaza at Syracuse Stage – a project led by UPSTATE, an interdisciplinary center for research, design, and real estate located within the School of Architecture. The installation features technology developed by Edward Lipson, professor of physics, including sensor activated musical pavers. Motion-activated LED light screens double as an outdoor stage enclosure, along with striking, massive carved wood benches that create venue seating, along with other whimsical interactive features.
The project has delighted theater-goers as well as the community, across all ages. It’s entertaining to watch, especially from a cozy corner table at Phoebe’s on a rainy April day. You’ll glimpse school children and seniors alike, trying out dance steps on the musical red pavers – and you’ll catch delighted faces as they interact with this new multi-sensory experience. Catch “The Brothers Size” from April 18 through May 12 before it heads out for a run in leading theaters in South Africa.
