Tickets available for October 5 Trip to Rochester’s Art Scene

ThINC and the Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) have rolled out the first cross-city cultural exchange with the ArtBus, a monthly road trip between Syracuse and Rochester giving art patrons an opportunity to experience each city’s cultural scene.

The ArtBus made its inaugural journey on Thursday, September 20 with 36 art lovers from Rochester traveling to Syracuse to take in TH3.  They followed the Connective Corridor to different venues including the Warehouse Gallery, Delavan Art Gallery, the Redhouse, Urban Video Project and LightWork.

The next trip is set for Rochester’s First Friday gallery series on October 5.  Tickets are available for $35, and can be obtained by contacting ThINC at (315) 350-4645 or by email at info@thinc.org.  Similar to Syracuse’s ‘Connective Corridor’ shuttle, RoCo will organize a gallery shuttle to transport patrons between all participating First Friday galleries around the city of Rochester.

“The ArtBus, while promoting art and artists, will generate a valuable cultural exchange through cultural tourism and and as such will naturally complement the efforts and vision of Th3 in Syracuse and the new ‘First Fridays’ in Rochester,” comments Andrew Mount, Executive Director of ThINC.  In the future, organizers anticipate adding trips to Buffalo.

As part of the ArtBus journey, ThINC and RoCo provides en-route entertainment that includes artist’s talks, music performances, poetry readings, sound art and video art, along with champagne and chocolates. The program will change with each trip as it aims to help further contextualize the exhibitions on view at ThINC and RoCo. ArtBus patrons will also be given a press package upon embarking on the journey containing information about RoCo and other Rochester galleries in addition to restaurants, cafes and bars that their destination offers.

ThINC is a Syracuse based art non-profit that promotes progressive artistic expression throughout its activities. ThINC operates its ‘Company’ gallery, located at 110 West Fayette Street, One Lincoln Center in downtown Syracuse from March to November. The gallery is open Thursday, Friday and by appointment.
